Simple Tips to Help Protect your Home from Burglars

The rate of break-ins and stealing rapidly increased with the lock-down, and more than ever there is a need for everyone to be more security conscious and take some precautionary measures to protect their home and properties. So here are a few tips to help;

Make sure your doors and windows are locked: Burglars look for easy access, and an open door or window makes it super easy for them. Always lock your doors and windows whenever you don’t need them open, especially when you’re not at home.

Be sure to check all exterior locks work properly: Make sure to check that there are no damaged locks or locks with keys missing in your home. Also be sure to check that your exterior locks are not easy to jam open.

You may want to consider locking interior doors as well as an extra security precaution. For example, if you’re alone at home and want an extra preventative measure, consider locking your bedroom door at night

Keep curtains and blinds shut: Don’t allow intruders to easily see what’s inside your home — especially in rooms where there are valuables. This will obscure a potential intruder’s view, making it difficult to see which rooms hold high-value items, or even whether someone is inside the house.

And please don’t hide keys outside: under doormats, potted plants or any other obvious outdoor location. Thieves will generally find them. Find an inconspicuous place to hide the keys, or give a set to a neighbour you can trust.

Most importantly make sure you remain at alert at all times & contact the authorities immediately you notice an intruder.

Be sure to remain safe and protect your homes and properties!
